Aldershot Town FC, formed a few months after the demise of Alderhot FC, was admitted to the Third Division of the amateur Isthmian League, five tiers below the old Fourth Division of the Football League. In 2002 they won the Isthmian Premier League and promotion to the Conference. After two seasons in the fifth tier the club went full-time professional status and in 2008 won the Conference League Cup and Championship gaining entry to the Football league for the first time. The team lasted just five seasons before suffering relegation to the Conference in 2013. They reached the National League play-offs in 2017 and 2018.
