Bo’ness FC(or Borrowstounness) was a former Scottish league club founded in 1882. in what was then a thriving centre of heavy industry sitting on the southern bank of the Firth of Forth. They joined the Eastern Alliance in 1891. This competition collapsed before the end of the season and Bo’ness played in various leagues until 1909, when they entered the Central League. In 1921 the Central League was incorporated as Scottish Division Two, Bo’ness among them. The club regularly finished in the top half of the table and were champions in 1927, playing for one season in the Scottish First Division. They had become a mid-table Second Division side by the early 1930s when they were beset with serious financial problems. Matters came to a head during the 1932-33 season when they were unable to provide match fees to visiting clubs. With 14 fixtures played, Bo’ness was expelled from the League and their results declared void. They played in a variety of amateur leagues until 1945 when the club was wound up and merged with Bo’ness Cadora JFC to form Bo’ness United. They are now one of the strongest junior sides in Scotland.
