Burton Albion FC, is an English football club from the town of Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire which was formed at a public meeting at the Town Hall on 5 July 1950. They competed in non-league football until 2009 (in the Birmingham League, Southern League and from 1979 the Northern League). It was not until the arrival of Nigel Clough that the club found success. They won the Northern Premier League title in 2001 gaining them promotion to the Conference and then gained promotion to the League at the end of the 2008/09 under Roy McFarland (Clough having moved to Derby as manager late in the season). The club moved from Eton Park to the Pirelli Stadium in 2005. Burton secured promotion from League Two in 2015 under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and were promoted in 2016 to the Championship under Nigel Clough during his second spell with the club. They were relegated after two seasons and remain in League One.
