East Fife FC (nickname The Fife or The Fifers) is a Scottish football club based in the Fife coastal town of Methil. The club, established in 1903, played in the Fife League, the Northern League and the Central League until 1921. The Central League became the Scottish Second Division at the start of 1921-22 and only six years later East Fife appeared in the 1927 Scottish Cup final, losing to Celtic at Hampden Park. East Fife won the 1938 Scottish Cup beating Kilmarnock 4–2, the first side to lift the Scottish Cup while not in the top tier. The club was promoted to the top flight of Scottish football as B Division champions in 1947-48. This was to be the most successful period in the clubs history: East Fife won the Scottish League Cup on three separate occasions (1947-48, 1949-50, and 1953-54) in seven seasons. A third Scottish Cup final appearance was added to its achievements list in 1949-50. After years in the top flight they were relegated at the end of the 1957-58 season. East Fife returned to the First Division for three seasons in the early 1970s.
