Edinburgh City is a former Scottish League football club which dropped out of the League in 1949. Based at the Marine Gardens and subsequently at Powderhall Stadium and City Park, City was founded in 1928. The club had aimed to become the Edinburgh equivalent of the Glasgow club Queen's Park F.C. joining the Scottish Football League as an amateur club in 1931. Most of their time as league members they finished near the bottom of the league. Their most celebrated victory was beating Hibernian 3-2 away at Easter Road in the First Round of the Scottish Cup on 22 January 1938. The club was disbanded in 1955, but reformed in 1986. Having won the East of Scotland League Premier Division title for the first time in 2005-06, they became members of the new Lowland League in 2013. Having won the title in 2014-15 and 2015-16, Edinburgh City gained promotion to the Scottish Football League by defeating East Stirlingshire in a play-off. They remained in League Two until 2022 when they won promotion to League One once again through the play-offs. In June 2022 the club changes its name to FC Edinburgh.
