Stirling Albion FC is a Scottish football club from the city of Stirling. The club was founded in 1945 after the town's previous football team King's Park had failed to survive the Second World War. Between the 1940 and 1960, the club gained a reputation as a club that was too good for the lower league but never quite good enough to establish themselves in the Top flight, hence the club's nickname of The Yo-Yos. A period of decline set in during the late 1960s and early 1970s as the Albion were consigned to the bottom league. In 2007, the club gained promotion via the play-offs to Scottish Division One (second tier) but dropped straight back down again in 2008. A last serge at the end of the 2009/10 season saw Stirling take the Division Two title on goal difference from Alloa with the trophy delivered to Glebe Park by helicopter on the last day of the season. They were relegated the following season and by the end of 2011/12 had returned returned to the Division Three. A fine end to the season 2013-14 saw the team promoted to League One (now the third tier of Scottish Football) via the play-offs following victory over East Fife. Although 2014-15 marked the 70th anniversary of the club's formation the team were relegated to League Two (now the bottom tier of Scottish football) at the end of the season where they remain.
